Astro-Notes: America's Mercurial Summer of 2026

Above: a tri-wheel of Mercury's Rx-Direct-Shadow degrees of July into August 2026

Since Messenger planet Mercury turned retrograde (Rx) in early July @26Canb03, we find that our national Mercury Return this year has already begun with a total of three exact Returns all together, aka, a three-fer return. Below are the three dates that transit Mercury returned and will return to its July 4, 1776 position (@24Can11:51 at 5:09 pm LMT) - or, use your preferred US horoscope as you wish and the timings of America's 2026 Mercury Returns will naturally be different:

1. June 22, 2026: done!

2. July 7, 2026 (Rx): tomorrow! chart shows Saturn-Neptune = Moon @8Ari36 with potentials for: a low character; emotional immaturity; pessimism; depression; and/or chronic diseases - R. Ebertin;

3. August 5, 2026: Mercury-Saturn = Uranus @5Gem09 - in Return 9th house of Foreign Lands @6Gemini = "Drilling for Oil" (Strait of Hormuz?); the midpoint picture's potentials include: haste; quick decisions; going one's own way; nerve disease; plus, the speculation pair of Jupiter-Neptune = Uranus: imagination vs reality; coming down to earth with a bump; sudden recognition of a difficult situation (R. Ebertin).

Now as you know, any three-fer planetary return emphasizes the importance of the returning planet for that period of time including its aspects to other planets in the horoscope in which it appears. Obviously for America, besides the usual Mercurial circumstances, Mercury's directional shifts of Summer 2026 lead up to the Midterm Elections in November 2026, and many issues in the political and societal spheres depend upon outcomes via Mercury, planet of ballots, voting, vote counting and recounting (Rx), and the campaign speeches that sway voters one way or another. Mercury to-and-fro suggests that minds and decisions will change and perhaps change back by Election Day in November.

Our National Mercury-Pluto July 4, 1776

Then as we know, US 1776 Mercury opposes US 1776 Pluto Rx @27Cap33 so all our country's Mercury Returns soon stir up transit Mercury aligning in opposition to powerful Pluto, an aspect which is associated with intense ideas and information, manipulated ideas or plans, refusals to listen to others, wrong information intended to mislead, spying activities and surveillance, and/or restrictions on free thinking and/or communicating. Plus, Mercury also represents trade, commerce, negotiations and contracts, voting, oaths of office, the senses, teaching/learning, young folk, and just about anything else we care to name.

So let's close this post with our Mercury's rounded-up Sabian Symbol which relates closely to issues of government and power:

25 Cancer = "A Dark Shadow or Mantle Thrown Suddenly Over the Right Shoulder"; Keyword: DESTINY; positive expression: some dramatic manifestation of genius vital to the general welfare of man; negative (shadow side/unconscious -jc) expression: a tendency to unwarranted presumption if not outright megalomania.

Dear reader, I shall leave the word picure's interpretation in 2026 up to you.

US Mercury Returns 2025 and 2026

by Jude Cowell, partisan for the common good

Those who've spent time with America's July 4, 1776 Horoscope are cognizant of our national Mercury @24Can11 and its intriguing Sabian Symbol, "A Leader of Men Wrapped in An Invisible Mantle of Power." And with 1776 Pluto opposing US Mercury, surveillance, subversion, and other secretive issues and concerns are par for the course around here, and always have been. As we know, manipulative Pluto issues orders from afar and grabs all the power he can for his extreme wealth hidden in secret places is never enough.

Why, in the 2025 Horoscope shown below, Pluto in Aquarius (technocrats) is apex planet in one of the YOD patterns with the Mars-Jupiter sextile at its base; therefore, a certain rich fellow's name has been added for he ruthlessly leads the action. Of course, you're welcome to disagree! Especially since mundane Pluto can easily symbolize groups of manipulators and organizations even though The Invisible One prefers to work alone in isolation, as we know. Ivory tower and all that.

Yes, plutocrats prefer that their identities and actions stay hidden, but ours? Not so much. After all, knowledge is power - and control.

So as it turns out in 2025 - when it comes to surveillance, finances, and other Plutonian power-grabbing issues, everyone's personal data is up for grabs, not the least of which has already been pilfered under technocrat El*n M*sk's teenaged "DOGE" boys - and by other foreign actors as well, ongoing. So we're having to accept it that, Big Bro is in the house, and the ultimate consequences for regular folk are unpredictable at best. Sadly, we're in a world of thieves, traffickers, and other criminals via Neptune-Pluto underworld figures and their associates, with headquarters now run from a scofflaw White House.

And so considering that the realms of Mercury the messenger include a plethora of things such as children, education, thinking and planning, the senses, trade, commerce, travel, and all forms of communications (exs: lies, deceit, gossip), let's take a look at America's Mercury Return of June 22, 2025, and for 2026 which will perfect three times beginning June 22, 2026 - near Summer Solstice both years.

Since both Mercury Returns perfected on June 22, I've placed the Returns on the same page, dual image style. First, you see a tidier version of the charts, then the same dual images with way too many of my study notes scribbled upon them. (My notes are intended for the more daring reader.) Then mention should be made that each year, when Mercury returns to its 1776 degree, any aspects it made in 1776 are repeated, applying or separating. Naturally, this is the case with all planetary returns.

Images: US Mercury Return 2025 (lower left) and US Mercury Return 2026 number 1 0f 3; 2 and 3 are listed on the chart (upper right):

As you see above, the 2025 Return Horoscope contains YOD crisis patterns denoting turning points and karmic opportunities, and it's safe to say that We the People (and the rest of the world) are experiencing precisely what is shown in the 2025 chart as the year lurches along through violence, fanaticism, vigilantism, and the sadistic brutality that we see in the news everyday. Under Tr*mp. Did I mention it's all happening under his heftiness?

Now here are the exact same charts with my study notes added:

Be advised that the radix chart used to calculate these returns is the July 4, 1776 5:09 pm LMT Philadelphia, PA horoscope; naturally you should use whichever data you prefer. jc

Meet the GOP’s New Speaker of the House: MAGA on steroids? - clip

Yesterday we discussed new Speaker of the House, lawyer Mike Johnson (R-LA) with his Sun AQ-Moon Leo personality blend, and transit Pluto now sitting heavily upon his natal Mercury in Capricorn, sign of government, law, and business, while transforming his method of speaking into a power position.

Notably, Johnson's Mercury in Capricorn opposes US 1776 Mercury in Cancer which creates suggestions of ideological conflicts and diverse opinions between Johnson and our country's principles, traditions, and laws (as in, the US Constitution).

Now here's Thom Hartmann with more details concerning the MAGA flamethrower insurrectionist who may have been the MAGA choice for Speaker all long imho:
